Spring Trees, London
The conference I was attending that May in London, Ontario
was on the topic of death and
dying.
By the third day I was ready for another topic.
So I took a walk in the morning fog toward what appeared to
be a public park.
It turned out to be the grounds of the main office of the
Catholic diocese.
I didn’t see any signs warning Methodists to keep out,
so I found a gate and slipped
inside.
Waiting for me were these two trees.
I wish I could write something noteworthy about this photograph,
but I am unable to.
It’s about stillness, but that’s obvious.
It’s about being together, which is pretty clear.
It’s about the promise of spring, as anyone can see.
For me that warm morning in a foreign city, however,
it was simply about life and
living,
which stands in stark relief to that other reality.
After slowly making a few more images with my camera,
I returned to the death and
dying conference,
fortified with the vision of these two trees.
