Testimonials for
“Beautiful Like Summer Flowers, Beautiful Like Autumn
Leaves”
I was present in Atlanta for
the program you did. I just want to thank you for an extremely
beautiful, moving, and affirming presentation. It was truly
a gift to all of us. I am a hospice social worker who teeters
on the brink of burnout at times. I want you to know that
your gift renewed my energy and sense of purpose.

The highlight of the NHPCO conference
that stands out above all others was Jim Miller’s presentation
on Wednesday evening. It was an example of Jim’s excellent
nature photography, but in addition this time he had photos
of hospice patients and caregivers. Jim used an especially
compelling technique of showing caregivers’ faces in
which he focused on each individual’s eyes and then
their faces appear around their eyes. Speaking of eyes, I
don’t think there was a dry eye in the entire auditorium
by the time his presentation had concluded. Some folks commented
that they were glad nothing had been scheduled after his presentation
because they were too emotionally impacted to have been able
to take in anything else.

As the presentation ended, I turned to my wife and said,
“This is my advanced directive: play a video of this
at the end of my journey, to remind me of the beauty of our
world, and of our work in hospice.”

This program is truly a gift to all caregivers. The
photographs are beautiful beyond words. The words spoken are
tender. And the music brings to remembrance past relationships.
What a blessing!
